SEC Week 7 figures to have its fair share of craziness. But where? Does LSU take down Georgia, or Vandy upset Florida? Even in the games that look pretty settled, like Auburn-Tennessee, all may not be as it seems. Which is where we come in. Here’s a bold prediction for each Week 7 SEC matchup.

Alabama doubles up Missouri in passing yards

It’s not exactly a news flash that Alabama will thump Mizzou. What will surprise is that Bama will outpass the Tigers as well as destroy them. Drew Lock has had consecutive subpar games against top-half SEC defenses, and given Alabama’s relative struggles with the pass, Saban will have his team hungry to make that three bad games in a row for Lock. Meanwhile, Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts will go for 400-plus in the air while the Tide holds Lock to 200 or fewer.

Auburn gets a scare

How bad are things for Auburn right now? This bad. Tennessee will lead the Tigers at halftime this week. No, we’re not calling for UT to actually pull off the upset, but it’ll look really bad for a half before Auburn pulls it together late and wins by two scores. If the wheels haven’t fallen entirely off the Gus Bus, when the Tiger faithful are booing at halftime, they might fall off then.

For the second straight week, Trayveon comes up big

Trayveon Williams might just be the best player in the SEC with the least hype. He outplayed Kentucky’s Benny Snell last week head-to-head, and with A&M leaning on a time-of-possession-heavy attack, watch him grind out 140 yards this week in a 10-point Aggies win over South Carolina. If Williams can keep catching passes like he did against Kentucky, he might fool around and end up leading the league in all-purpose yardage.

LSU, upset last week, upsets this week

What game can create the most turmoil in the SEC race? THIS one. This week, LSU reproves its legitimacy after an ugly loss to Florida. Georgia takes the tough loss that gives them reason to focus on a rough second half of the schedule. LSU lost to Florida, which lost to Kentucky, which lost to A&M, which barely squeaked past Arkansas, which lost to North Texas. Badly. This might be the game that upsets the Fromm/Fields balance as well.

Mississippi has three 100-yard receivers this week

Sure, Mississippi doesn’t play any defense. But their big-play offense takes on the SEC’s next worst defense this weekend in Little Rock. The Rebels will spread the ball around — and A.J. Brown, D.K. Metcalf and DaMarkus Lodge will EACH put up 100 yards receiving in a thumping of Arkansas.

Special teams bail out the Gators

Fresh off their big win over LSU, Florida figures to be absolutely as flat as a pancake to open Saturday’s game in Nashville. Combine increasing desperation in Nashville to try to save this season and you could have the Vandy team that hung with Notre Dame instead of the one that squeaked by Tennessee State. The difference in several recent games in this series has been special teams, and in a close game in the fourth quarter, Florida will come up with a special teams touchdown that turns the tide.
