By Keith Farner
Published:
Cole Cubelic was on hand for Ole Miss’ win over Vanderbilt on Saturday, but offered his weekly takeaways from around the SEC.
Among them, the SEC Network sideline reporter and WJOX co-host noted that Alabama’s Bryce Young had a “Heisman” counterpunch after Arkansas’ KJ Jefferson handled it all well.
Elsewhere, he said Georgia and Kentucky handled there business.
Here are his takeaways for all the teams:
ARKANSAS: Great use of movement pre snap. All timer from 16. RG had really nice game! QB handled it all well, reads, leaving pocket, physicality. Needed to contest balls downfield. Had to get QB to ground. Lost contain too much. Lot of fight. Still chance at 1 more more goal.

FLORIDA: Looked like fun game was going to go early. Kind of vanished. Protection wasn’t great. 2 looked good on off. Just no rhythm or consistency on offense. Flags hurt. 28, 6 & 8 caused some problems up front. Couldn’t find an answer for outside zone. Costly L for the program.

KENTUCKY: Handled their business. The super heroes showed up on offense. That 3 headed monster on offense is tough to deal with when on! OL mashed again. 700 yards is impressive regardless. Still a tad sloppy with the turnovers. Cannot have those this week! 10 wins still in play!

MISSISSIPPI STATE: Handled their business. Rogers just dealing! Playing at such a high level. Little surprised there is ZERO Heisman buzz. OL was phenomenal. Not sure QB was touched. Defense was disruptive early. 22 & 2 caused some problems up front. Massive one next on short wk

MISSOURI: Loved the run game plan…Hit perimeter hard, to stretch play to gap scheme. Kept it simple for QB. Thought OT’s played well. 1 is so damn smooth. Such a great feel! LBs played well. 18 gave them fits all day. Loved the 2pt call & design. Heck of a play. Bowl eligible.

SOUTH CAROLINA: Incredible job with personnel, formations & movement on offense. 11 was on fire! OL good in run game, struggled with pass pro. 99 & 1 caused problems up front on def. 15 flying around. Can’t say enough about job Beamer has done. Just remarkable. Buy in is there.

TEXAS A&M: Handled their business. QB efficient. Good to see 7 get going a little! Spread wealth on the ground. OL got nice push. Def giving up 7 yards passing is always a good day. DL disruptive across the board. Cleaned some things up & need to have mind right for the last 1!

VANDERBILT: QB grew up a ton. Found confidence as game went on. Raw but gives you some nice things. 19 had a big day & could’ve been bigger with more consistency on throws earlier. 24 tough as nails in pass pro & carrying ball. The fight is still there. Impressive to see that.
