Every year, players come out of seemingly nowhere to become stars in the SEC. Last year, Joe Burrow went from mid-level SEC quarterback to Heisman Trophy winner.

This year, Alabama’s Mac Jones could go from Tua Tagovailoa’s backup to winning a Heisman of his own.

On Saturday, SEC Network analyst Roman Harper named the 5 biggest surprises in the SEC this year and he had Jones at No. 1, followed by Ole Miss WR Elijah Moore, Auburn RB Tank Bigsby, Kentucky CB Kelvin Joseph and South Carolina RB Kevin Harris:

Those guys have all been incredible this season, and there are plenty of other players who probably could have made the list.

Moore stood out last year, too, but he has certainly become even better in 2020. We’ll see how these guys fare in the second half of the season.
