Now that we’ve made it through the portion of the schedule where multiple teams are off every weekend, we’re finishing the year with some loaded schedules.

There are so many SEC games these next couple of weeks, even if some of them are against “cupcake” opponents.

The Week 11 slate of games featured some surprising scores, but how much did it shake up our weekly power rankings?

Let’s take a look at how the 14 SEC teams stack up as we prepare for a busy Week 12 schedule:

14. Vanderbilt (2-8 overall, 0-6 in SEC)

Previous ranking: 14
This week: 34-17 L to Kentucky
Next week: at Ole Miss (8-2)

This just isn’t an SEC-quality football team. The Commodores prove that time and time again. Could they get there under Clark Lea? Sure. Is it a major uphill battle? Absolutely. This is a tough place to win. It’ll take Lea at least a couple more years to even have a chance to build this into a respectable program the way James Franklin did.

13. Florida (5-5, 2-5)

Previous ranking: 13
This week: 70-52 W over Samford
Next week: at Mizzou (5-5)

Even though the Gators won against Samford this week, the game was still an utter disaster for Dan Mullen’s squad. Giving up 52 points against Samford, a mediocre FCS squad, is inexcusable for a team that was in the SEC Championship Game last year. It’s tough to see Mullen keeping his job after this one, even though he insisted a win is a win no matter how ugly in his postgame press conference. The writing seems to be on the wall in Gainesville.

12. South Carolina (5-5, 2-5)

Previous ranking: 11
This week: 31-28 L to Mizzou
Next week: vs. Auburn (6-4)

The Gamecocks made it close late thanks to a couple of mistakes from Mizzou, but they failed to capitalize on the momentum from beating Florida last week. This was a golden opportunity to pick up win No. 6 and gain bowl eligibility, but now that road looks a lot tougher. The Gamecocks will face Auburn and Clemson at Williams-Brice Stadium to close out the regular season. While both of those Tiger squads are beatable, the Gamecocks will need to play a lot better than they did on Saturday at Mizzou.

11. Mizzou (5-5, 2-5)

Previous ranking: 12
This week: 31-28 W over South Carolina
Next week: vs. Florida (5-5)

All of a sudden, the Tigers have a chance to become bowl eligible if they can beat a struggling Florida team in Week 12 or Arkansas in Week 13. Either is possible. But it’s also very possible the Tigers go 0-2 and miss a bowl game. Tyler Badie is a stud. The defense had perhaps its best game of the year against the Gamecocks. But QB Connor Bazelak’s struggles are a major cause for concern. Mizzou needs to figure out its QB position moving forward.

10. LSU (4-6, 2-5)

Previous ranking: 10
This week: 16-13 L (OT) to No. 25 Arkansas
Next week: vs. Louisiana-Monroe (4-6)

LSU got off to a decent start against the Razorbacks on Saturday night, but then everything stalled. The Tigers couldn’t get anything going offensively. Even though the Tiger defense played well, it wasn’t enough to hold on for the win. This just isn’t a good team. They’ll get to 5 wins against ULM next weekend, but beating Texas A&M in Rivalry Week to get bowl-eligible doesn’t seem likely.

9. Auburn (6-4, 3-3)

Previous ranking: 5
This week: 43-34 L to Mississippi State
Next week: at South Carolina (5-5)

The Tigers led 28-3 before everything fell apart on Saturday afternoon. Mississippi State rattled off 40 unanswered points to earn a 43-34 victory. It was one of the wilder games of this entire SEC season. Now, Auburn and coach Bryan Harsin have several questions to answer on both sides of the ball as they prepare for a road trip to South Carolina next week.

8. Kentucky (7-3, 5-3)

Previous ranking: 8
This week: 34-17 W over Vanderbilt
Next week: vs. New Mexico State (1-9)

Yes, this is pretty low for a team that is 7-3. I just don’t want to overreact to a win over a bad Vanderbilt team. Especially when it wasn’t exactly a “dominant” win based on the Wildcats’ performance after halftime. What’s crazy is that the Wildcats should get to 9-3 before the end of the regular season, as their last 2 games are against New Mexico State and Louisville. I just want to see this team actually take care of business again before I move it back up in these rankings.

7. Mississippi State (6-4, 4-3)

Previous ranking: 9
This week: 43-34 W over No. 17 Auburn
Next week: vs. Tennessee State (5-5)

The roller coaster ride that is Mississippi State continued on Saturday afternoon in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Down 28-3? No problem at all for Mike Leach’s team. Just casually rattle off 40 points in a row like it’s nothing. What a performance from this team. It should improve to 7-4 next week, setting up a hugely important Egg Bowl. That’ll be very exciting to watch!

6. Tennessee (5-5, 3-4)

Previous ranking: 6
This week: 41-17 L to No. 1 Georgia
Next week: vs. South Alabama (5-5)

Look, I get it. This seems really high for a team that is 5-5. I just really believe the Vols could beat any of the teams below them in these power rankings on a neutral field. Three of their 5 losses have come to Ole Miss, Alabama and Georgia. Spoiler alert: Those are the top 3 teams in these rankings. Their other losses came against Florida (before the Gators imploded) and a tough Pitt team. I absolutely love what Josh Heupel is doing with this program. A bright future is coming on Rocky Top.

5. Arkansas (7-3, 3-3)

Previous ranking: 6
This week: 16-13 W (OT) over LSU
Next week: at Alabama (9-1)

Do the Hogs look like they should be at No. 5 in these rankings? Probably not, based on the fact they needed overtime to beat a not-great LSU team. But credit to Sam Pittman and the Razorbacks — they keep winning! Wins are wins, especially in the SEC. Now, they’ll face another brutal road test, heading to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama. That will be an exciting game to watch.

4. Texas A&M (7-3, 4-3)

Previous ranking: 3
This week: 29-19 L to No. 15 Ole Miss
Next week: vs. Prairie View A&M (7-2)

Yes, this is a disappointing loss for the Aggies. But this is still a really good team. I had Ole Miss at No. 4 last week and the Aggies at No. 3. I’m just going to flip them after this week’s result. You play this game 10 times and I’d bet each team wins 5. What a fun game in Oxford. Now, we’ll see if the Aggies can regroup and do their best to make an elite bowl game as the regular season winds down.

3. Ole Miss (8-2, 4-2)

Previous ranking: 4
This week: 29-19 W over No. 11 Texas A&M
Next week: vs. Vanderbilt (2-8)

Major credit to the Rebels’ defense for this win. The offense scoring 29 points against Texas A&M’s elite defense deserves a ton of credit, too, especially after coach Lane Kiffin left 6 points on the board by going for it on 4th downs instead of kicking field goals. But that didn’t end up hurting the Rebels, who picked up a huge home win and stayed alive in the SEC West race (although they’ll need some help in the form of an Alabama loss).

2. Alabama (9-1, 5-1)

Previous ranking: 2
This week: 59-3 W over New Mexico State
Next week: vs. Arkansas (7-3)

New Mexico State actually had a 3-0 lead over the Tide early in Saturday’s game in Tuscaloosa. From that point on, it was all Alabama. Bryce Young had 5 touchdown passes. Jameson Williams caught 3 of them. We didn’t learn too much about the Tide in this game, but they’ll still be No. 2 in the country on Tuesday when the new College Football Playoff rankings come out.

1. Georgia (10-0, 8-0)

Previous ranking: 1
This week: 41-17 over Tennessee
Next week: vs. Charleston Southern (4-5)

And, with that, Georgia completes its SEC season undefeated. The Dawgs will get a bit of a reprieve against Charleston Southern next weekend before finishing the regular season against Georgia Tech. Yes, Tennessee scored more points against Georgia than anyone else has this year, but the Dawgs continued to dominate. This team just suffocates opponents as the game wears on. There were some notable players banged up on defense, but Georgia remains the No. 1 team in the country by a wide margin.
