Even SEC Shorts is taking the side that Florida State got hosed by the College Football Playoff selection committee.

The latest clip imagines how CFP voting went down. Michigan, Washington and Texas are all unanimous decisions. Then comes the 4th team.

Alabama is proposed as the 4th team. The committee is surprised to find that 1 member voted against the Crimson Tide, suggesting Florida State. The SEC Shorts sketch tackles all the arguments made against the Seminoles, with Nole advocate “Greg” having a sensible response every time.

When the other committee members say FSU lost its quarterback, Greg notes that the team is 3-0 since Jordan Travis went down. When the committee notes third-string quarterback Brock Glenn’s rough outing in the ACC Championship Game against Louisville, Greg points out that backup Tate Rodemaker would be out of concussion protocol for the Playoff semifinal.

When Greg points out that FSU has 21 starters other than Travis, the committee isn’t having it. Greg reminds the committee members that Ohio State won the national championship starting a third-string QB. Dinging FSU for the loss of Travis is further taken to task as a “nebulous concept.”

The other committee members acknowledge that they would not punish Alabama for going undefeated with a third-string quarterback.

“Yes, but it’s the SEC,” the committee chair admits.

Committee members did not want to hear that the ACC had a winning record against the SEC in 2023. They are horrified when Greg says “maybe they shouldn’t” to the idea of the SEC not making the Playoff.

Greg makes a passionate plea to preserve public confidence in a fair system, but the committee chair hits a button to make Greg’s vote a confirmation for Alabama. The clip from “ACC Shorts” can be viewed below, via YouTube:
