With tons of SEC action every Saturday, there are always going to be plenty of highlight reel plays. Week 9 featured several dramatic finishes and some impressive offensive performances. Of course, there are also those plays that are better off forgotten. Here at Saturday Down South, we don’t forget. Let’s run down the worst of the week that was.

5. Georgia’s run defense

Florida ran 66 plays in their 38-20 win against the Bulldogs. They threw all of six passes. Six! Despite Treon Harris turning around and handing the ball off more than 90 percent of the time, Georgia could do nothing to stop it. Florida rushed 60 times for 418 yards, which comes out to 7.0 yards per carry. The Bulldogs defense must have had tread marks on their backs all the way back to Athens.

4. Texas A&M’s second half offense

Hard to believe, but Kevin Sumlin’s team was, at one point, known for its prolific offense. The only thing that was head-turning about their 21-16 win over Louisiana-Monroe was how terrible that offense was. The Aggies ran 33 plays in the second half and totaled 50 yards of offense. A month ago, this team was averaging more than 50 points per game.

3. Ref gets laid out in Mississippi State-Arkansas game.

Example No. 3,492 of refs needing to keep their heads on a swivel.

2. Offensive tweeting

Making light of injuries and fan base devastation is bad enough. Mocking an entire state’s population and history takes it to another level.

1. Steve Spurrier walks out of his press conference

The Gamecocks suffered a heartbreaking loss to Tennessee on Saturday, falling 45-42 in overtime. The Head Ball Coach was devastated by the result, and actually took some of the blame himself for maybe the first time ever. There’s no excuse for refusing to field questions when you’re the head coach of an SEC football program, though.
