With tons of SEC action every Saturday, there are always going to be plenty of highlight reel plays. Week 14 featured several dramatic finishes and some impressive offensive performances. Of course, there are also those plays that are better off forgotten. Here at Saturday Down South, we don’t forget. Let’s run down the worst of the week that was.

5. Latroy Pittman’s double flag

Latroy Pittman earned a questionable holding call on this wide receiver screen play. He apparently didn’t agree with the call, which is fair enough. He compounded the original penalty when he had something to do say to the refs that they clearly didn’t like, earning a 15-yard flag for unsportsmanlike conduct on top of the holding. Word to the wise: throwing your hands up to indicate you’re not guilty is a pretty clear sign you did something wrong.

4. De’Vante Harris whiffs on a kick block

LSU drilled a field goal to help ice its win over Texas A&M, but De’Vante Harris very nearly changed that. He came flying off the edge unblocked and had a clear shot at blocking the 43-yard attempt. Instead of jumping at the ball, though, he dove away from it and watched as the kick sailed right over him.

3. Georgia Tech’s squib recovery

Looks like someone forgot how kickoffs work. Georgia Tech squibbed a kick downfield after scoring a go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter and two Georgia players watched the ball drop in behind them. The Yellow Jackets pounced on it as the Bulldogs seemed confused about what was happening.

2. Gerald Willis hits Jameis Winston on the sideline

There’s no place for this in college football, no matter how much Jameis Winston and Florida State irritate the rest of college football. Freshman Gerald Willis took a swing at Winston as he ran out of bounds, an act that Will Muschamp said he would have dismissed Willis for if he was still the coach.

1. Corey Robinson gives up on blocking

South Carolina’s effort on both sides of the ball was disappointing in their loss against Clemson, but this display of “blocking” is as bad as it gets. Robinson made a token effort to protect his quarterback, then stood and watched as Clemson’s Vic Beasley flew around him and had Dylan Thompson running for his life. Even when Robinson had a chance to find another pass rusher to block, he instead stood with his arms at his side. The play before was just as bad, as Robinson’s nonchalance led to Mike Davis getting whacked on a screen pass.
