Sports Illustrated's updated post-Week 11 bowl projections include 9 SEC teams
There’s a lot of debate around the College Football Playoff rankings these days, particularly with regards to how the committee should handle a 1-loss Alabama team.
After Week 11’s action, Sports Illustrated’s Michael Shapiro updated his bowl projections, and 9 SEC teams were included.

Aged cayenne peppers bring the heat, while molasses and honey inject the sweet into our Fiery Sweet Wing Sauce. For a dash of daring deliciousness, give it a shot.
Interestingly, we get a Tua Tagovailoa-Jalen Hurts Alabama-Oklahoma matchup projected here, but it isn’t in the College Football Playoff. Here’s where Shapiro has each SEC squad playing this postseason:
Alabama
- Sugar Bowl vs. Oklahoma
Auburn
- Citrus Bowl vs. Wisconsin
Florida
- Outback Bowl vs. Penn State
Georgia
- Orange Bowl vs. Virginia
Kentucky
- Belk Bowl vs. Virginia Tech
LSU
- Peach Bowl (CFP) vs. Oregon
Mississippi State
- Texas Bowl vs. Oklahoma State
Tennessee
- Music City Bowl vs. Miami
Texas A&M
- Gator Bowl vs. Indiana
Why would the Texas Bowl have us there? We’d have about 1000 fans there. Everyone thinks we s uck the worst in 10 years. You got to be kidding me. Liberty Bowl is where we need to be.
It makes the most sense and the Liberty loves us. We can pretty much bet on it if we go bowling.
If Memphis doesnt go to the Cotton, the Liberty will most likely want them.
The SEC won’t fill its allotment, so the Liberty can take an AAC team if they want.
Auburn would have to run the table to end up in the Citrus bowl ahead of Florida. Possible…but not likely. The BIG teams will probably be reversed as well.
Yeah, I dont see Tennessee in the Music City Bowl. We were just there in 2016, which is sadly, the last time we went bowling.
Everything Ive seen elsewhere says Gator, Belk, or Liberty
