TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — With the deadline for underclassmen to decide if they’re going pro fast approaching, University of Alabama fans were confused by a stream of message on social media on Wednesday.

It began when IMG Academy in Florida posted a pair of “Welcome” tweets for players apparently beginning draft preparation. One was for outgoing Crimson Tide linebacker Xzavier Dickson, the other for junior defensive lineman Jarran Reed.

However, after Crimson Tide fans and reporters picked up on it junior linebacker Reggie Ragland tweeted that it wasn’t true and that Reed was staying for his final year at Alabama.

The deadline for players to declare themselves eligible for the draft is Thursday. Safety Landon Collins, wide receiver Amari Cooper and running back T.J. Yeldon have already done so.

Ragland and Reed are the only remaining Crimson Tide players thought to be still on the fence.

“Yall will know about me when the time comes,” Ragland tweeted.

During his first season as a starter Ragland was second in team tackles with 95, including 10.5 for a loss and 1.5 sacks. He also had an interception, defended three passes, forced a fumble and recovered a team-high three fumbles. He was a Butkus Award semifinalist.

Reed, a junior-college transfer last season, led the defensive line with 55 tackles, including 6.5 tackles for a loss and one sack. He also broke up five passes and was named honorable mention All-SEC.

UPDATE: The IMG post regarding Reed has been taken down.
