The SEC always dominates the AP Top 25 poll when college football season comes around. As of now, six of the 14 teams in the conference rank within the top 25 heading into Week 1.

By nature, each SEC team is bound to play at least one AP Top 10 team per year. Alabama and Georgia are often in the mix of the Top 10, representing one inclusion from both the West and the East, respectively. With that in mind, here’s the most recent instance of each SEC program downing an AP Top 10 opponent in a season.

Only three schools – Missouri, Vanderbilt and Tennessee – haven’t achieved the feat within the past couple of years. For those wondering, Missouri beat No. 7 Georgia in 2013, Vanderbilt beat No. 6 South Carolina in 2007 and Tennessee beat No. 10 Georgia (And No. 9 Cal earlier in the season) in 2006.

The Vols have come very close to moving up this list slightly several times. Tennessee missed a field goal (blocked) to beat No. 1 Alabama in 2009 under Lane Kiffin and also just lost in overtime to No. 8 Texas A&M in 2016.
