It didn’t take Tim Tebow long to provide short-term justification for his promotion to the St. Lucie Mets.

The New York Mets’ High-A affiliate played a doubleheader on Wednesday, Tebow’s first day with the club, and the former Heisman Trophy winner did not disappoint. He earned a hit in his second at-bat with St. Lucie and followed it up with a two-run shot in his first trip to the plate in the second game of the afternoon.

Hitting a home run in his first day with a team appears to be Tebow’s thing. The former Florida quarterback hit a two-run shot in his very first minor league at-bat this season with the Columbia Fireflies.

Before his promotion to St. Lucie, Tebow had a .220 batting average with 69 strikeouts and three home runs.
