Continuing our daily look at top recruits in each SEC state, we’ll stop in Louisiana where LSU has received verbal commitments from four top prospects.

Top 10 recruits by SEC states

Based on 247Sports’ 2015 composite rankings by state, here are Louisiana’s 10 best prospects and where they’re headed:

  1. Tyron Johnson, WR, 6-1, 190, New Orleans (Five-star, uncommitted) — One of the biggest uncommitted prospects on several teams’ boards is Johnson, an athletic pass-catcher who makes spectacular plays with ease. If LSU can coax the New Orleans native to stay home, the Tigers will have several worthy options for Anthony Jennings or Brandon Harris on the outside next season.
  2. Derrius Guice, RB, 5-11, 220, Baton Rouge (Four-star, LSU commit)
  3. Donte Jackson, ATH, 5-11, 175, New Orleans (Four-star, uncommitted)
  4. Nick Brosette, RB, 6-0, 210, Baton Rouge (Four-star, LSU commit) — Brosette is talented enough to compete for early playing time behind Leonard Fournette in next year’s youthful, yet ferocious, backfield. He’s the second of three heralded ballcarriers the Tigers expect to sign in February, joining Guice and Ducre.
  5. Daylon Charlot, WR, 6-0, 190, Patterson (Four-star, Alabama commit)
  6. Xavier Lewis, DB, 6-0, 175, Reserve (Four-star, LSU commit)
  7. Jerry Tillery, OL, 6-6, 315, Shreveport (Four-star, Notre Dame commit)
  8. Derrick Dillon, ATH, 5-11, 180, Franklinton (Four-star, Florida commit)
  9. Kirk Merritt, RB, 5-11, 205, Destrehan (Four-star, uncommitted)
  10. David Ducre, FB, 5-11, 240, Mandeville (Four-star, LSU)
