Continuing our daily look at top recruits in each SEC state, we’ll stop in Georgia where the Bulldogs have secured commitments from five of the state’s top 10 prospects. Four-star linebacker Roquan Smith remains uncommitted as we near signing day.

Top 10 recruits by SEC states

Based on 247Sports’ 2015 composite rankings by state, here are Georgia’s 10 best prospects and where they’re headed:

  1. Trent Thompson, DT, 6-4, 295, Albany (Five-star, Georgia commit) — One of the top players at his position nationally, Thompson often beats the opposition off a violently quick first step and packs a serious punch at just under 300 pounds. He moves well for his size and is the ideal inside option in a 3-4 look.
  2. Mitch Hyatt, OL, 6-5, 270, Suwanee (Five-star, Clemson commit)
  3. Chuma Edoga, OL, 6-3, 275, Powder Springs (Five-star, USC commit)
  4. Terry Godwin, ATH, 6-0, 170, Hogansville (Five-star, Georgia commit) — This all-purpose wideout has been committed to the G for more than a year, choosing the Bulldogs over offers from Alabama and Auburn among others. He’ll play in the Under Armour All-America Game in January and participated in Nike’s ‘The Opening’ camp over the summer.
  5. Preston Williams, WR, 6-4, 190, Hampton (Five-star, Tennessee commit) — The latest athletic pass-catcher to buy into Butch Jones’ brick-by-brick philosophy, Williams is still being pursued by several SEC programs thanks to his elite size and range at 6-foot-4, 190 pounds.
  6. Taj Griffin, All-purpose RB, 5-10, 175, Powder Springs (Four-star, Oregon commit)
  7. Roquan Smith, LB, 6-2, 205, Montezuma (Four-star, uncommitted)
  8. Jonathan Ledbetter, DE, 6-4, 265, Tucker (Four-star, Georgia commit)
  9. Natrez Patrick, DE, 6-3, 220, Atlanta (Four-star, Georgia commit)
  10. Rashad Roundtree, S, 6-1, 195, Evans (Four-star, Georgia commit)
