Continuing our daily look at top recruits in each SEC state, we’ll stop in Alabama where the Tigers and Crimson Tide have lured numerous big fish from the state’s top 10 prospects. Daron Payne, a four-star defensive tackle from Birmingham, remains undecided as we begin the month-long dead period.

Top 10 recruits by SEC states

Based on 247Sports’ 2015 composite rankings by state, here are Alabama’s 10 best prospects and where they’re headed:

  1. Kerryon Johnson, ATH, 6-0, 200, Madison (Four-star, Auburn commit)
  2. Daron Payne, DT, 6-2, 325, Birmingham (Four-star, uncommitted)
  3. Lester Cotton, OL, 6-4, 325, Tuscaloosa (Four-star, Alabama commit) — A run-blocking guard and potential multi-year starter up front for the Tide after what is expected to be a redshirt season next fall, Cotton’s natural girth at 6-foot-4, 325 pounds should cause headaches in the SEC.
  4. Desherrius Flowers, RB, 6-1, 210, Mobile (Four-star, Alabama commit)
  5. Darrell Williams, LB, 6-3, 225, Birmingham (Four-star, Auburn commit) — One of several talented linebackers expected in this year’s signing class for the Tigers, Williams fits the mold on the outside in Will Muschamp’s 4-3 attack with great lateral quickness and strength.
  6. Richard McBryde, LB, 6-2, 210, Troy (Four-star, Auburn commit)
  7. Tyler Carr, OL, 6-5, 310, Gadsden (Four-star, Auburn commit)
  8. Brandon Kennedy, OL, 6-3, 295, Wetumpka (Four-star, Alabama commit)
  9. Nick Gibson, RB, 5-11, 200, Pinson (Four-star, Mississippi State commit)
  10. Anfernee Jennings, DE, 6-3, 260, Dadeville (Three-star, Alabama commit)
