Two SEC kickers named Lou Groza Award semifinalists

Plenty of college football games are won and lost on the feet of kickers. The SEC has two of the best in the country, according to The Palm Beach County Sports Commission.

Auburn’s Daniel Carlson and Ole Miss’ Gary Wunderlich were among the 20 semifinalists for the Lou Groza Award, the organization announced Thursday. The honor is presented annually to the nation’s best kicker.

Carlson, a finalist for the award in 2015, is 17-of-18 on field goals this season and has hit 130 consecutive extra points. Wunderlich has connected on 13 of his 14 field goals in 2016, his only miss being a 55-yarder.

Three Lou Groza Award finalist will be announced Nov. 22, and the winner will be announced Dec. 5.
