Updated Heisman odds: Derrick Henry has a single challenger
Alabama running back Derrick Henry is going to win the Heisman Trophy unless he gets arrested this week for a heinous crime.
The question is, how big will the margin be?
According to the latest gambling odds, Henry is a strong favorite to win the award at -300. But Clemson QB Deshaun Watson, at +500, could make the margin relatively close if he shreds the North Carolina defense.
Most notably, five of the top seven contenders for this year’s Heisman, according to Monday’s odds, play running back. That’s an anomaly, as 13 of the 15 Heisman winners this century were quarterbacks.
Henry picked a great year to grab Alabama’s single-season rushing record book and shatter it all over the SEC’s hallowed fields. For that, he’ll be striking a few Heisman poses in December.
