The NBA Draft is just hours away and anticipation is high regarding the event. Not only is a majority of the top picks unpredictable, but many analysts are predicting quite a bit of movement in terms of team trades.

The NBA Draft is on ESPN at 7:00 p.m. eastern. Until then, we’ve got a number of predictions:

NBA Draft Predictions

The team that drafts Luka Doncic will trade into the top 4 to get him.

Rumors are flying about teams that want to move into either the no. 3 (Atlanta Hawks) or the no. 4 (Memphis Grizzlies) position in order to select European stud Luka Doncic. While the Hawks seem more likely to take Doncic than the Grizzlies (who have Michael Conley), word is that the Hawks also like Trae Young. Possible teams that move into the top 5 to take Doncic include Orlando, Denver, Dallas and even Boston.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the first Wildcat taken in the NBA Draft.

Despite all the love over Kevin Knox in recent weeks, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be the first Kentucky Wildcat taken off the board. Gilgeous-Alexander has played the draft game different than a number of prospects in that he didn’t work out for teams, but his length and the guard position and potential upside is too alluring for teams in the 7-10 range of the lottery. Possible teams are as high as Orlando at 6, or the Knicks at 9.

Trae Young falls out of the top ten.

It’s hard to believe that Trae Young might fall out of the top 5, let alone the top 10, after the sensational start he had to the college basketball season, but his slight build, inconsistency late in the season and his weak defensive abilities make lottery teams nervous to use a high pick on him. Is Young more Steph Curry-ish or the second coming of Jimmer Fredette? Time will tell.

Possible NBA Draft Busts

Michael Porter, Jr.

Nobody has the range of upside and downside as Michael Porter, Jr. Nobody doubts his ability, but injury concerns make him a scary pick at the top of the lottery. If he’s healthy and can regain the athleticism he showed as a top high school prospect, he might be the steal of the draft. Or, he could be the next Greg Oden with a short career ravaged by injury. We’re hoping he’s healthy and successful in the future.

Trae Young

As stated above, Trae Young also has a wide range of outcomes. At times, he looks like an elite shooter. Other times, he looks lost defensively and fatigued.

Mo Bamba

Teams are falling in love with the Texas big man’s otherworldly wing span and videos of Bamba draining threes in an empty gym, but we’ve seen a number of big men show off shooting skills in empty gyms that never materialized as shooters in actual NBA games. Can Bamba be an elite rim protector while stretching the floor on offense? Maybe, but it also might be a number of NBA GMs falling in love with potential. College basketball fans who watched Texas last season saw glimpses of elite potential, but other times, Bamba was not overly impactful.
