Urban Meyer knows what it is like to coach in the SEC. His Florida teams navigated the gauntlet to win 2 national titles during his tenure in Gainesville.

So, even though Meyer is gearing up for a return to FOX as an analyst this fall (a network that doesn’t air many SEC games), the former Florida and Ohio State coach knows the SEC is still the class of the college football world.

Speaking with Dan Dakich on “Don’t @ Me” this week, Meyer said the SEC is the most-talented conference from top to bottom, adding that 8 SEC teams believe they’ll be in the hunt for a College Football Playoff spot this year (via 247Sports):

“I’ve been watching a lot of that film to get ready for our shows coming up, the one thing about the SEC, that’s as talented a conference from top to bottom (as you’ll find) … no other conference has eight teams that really believe they can compete for a national title. In the SEC, there are eight programs right now that believe they’ll be in the mix for a national title spot.”

The SEC got 2 teams into the Playoff last year, and obviously, those teams met in the title game, with Georgia beating Alabama.

Can the deepest league in the nation match that feat in 2022?
