Urban Meyer getting raked over the coals after finally responding to being put on leave by Ohio State
Nearly 48 hours after being placed on paid leave at Ohio State, Urban Meyer finally responded with a lengthy statement indicating he did indeed know about Zach Smith’s 2015 alleged domestic assault charge against his now ex-wife, Courtney Smith.
That accusation, which has been backed up with hundreds of documents including photos by the investigative reporting of Brett McMurphy, was not the first between Zach Smith and Courtney Smith. Now Meyer claims he knew about the situation, despite denying that several times during the latest Big Ten Media Days.
After being backed into a corner, Meyer admits he was aware of them and reported that news to his superiors. Why he kept Zach Smith on his staff for two and a half years is still unclear.
Following the release of Meyer’s statement, many have called out the Ohio State coach for his dishonest approach to this entire situation. At this point, it’s hard to know what Meyer is being honest about and what he is being told to say by his representatives to keep him employed in Columbus.
Urban Meyer said he didn’t intend "to say anything inaccurate” about Zach Smith incident. He was asked 9 questions about it at B1G Media Days & said: “I know nothing; never had a conversation about that; who would create a story like that & If I (knew) I would have made a change"

Furthermore, Urban Meyer is now saying he knew his assistant coach beat his wife and yet he kept him employed for three years after that 2015 incident. Then he suddenly fired him in 2018 when the media found out about 2015? This makes zero sense.

As if that weren’t enough, Urban Meyer is now admitting to knowing all about employing a wife beater for years. If anything, he’s now seeking to blame his superiors at Ohio State for not taking any action.

The statement he just released is even more evidence Urban Meyer is done at Ohio State. He needs to fire whichever lawyer he vetted that with. And all his superiors at Ohio State may be getting fired too. This is even a bigger mess now.

Urban Meyer's statement seems written with contract law in mind. It denies any grounds that Ohio State could use to fire him with cause. At the same time, it acknowledges his answers to journalists' questions were inadequate–a personal failing that doesn't violate his contract. https://t.co/reaiRXw9yE

Same question I had last week I have even more so now: Why on earth was Smith still on his staff the last three years?

This is a very strong denial by Urban Meyer.. as I said earlier, there are still a lot of key details in this investigation that need to come out. https://t.co/SmHFxGZ4Di
