Urban Meyer makes his pick for big Auburn-Florida game

The Auburn Tigers head into Saturday’s game at Florida coming off a win against Mississippi State. Florida, on the other hand, played Towson last weekend.

How much did the Gators prepare for Towson? Former Florida coach (and current FOX analyst) Urban Meyer doesn’t think the Gators did much prep for last week’s game at all.

On the FOX pregame show on Saturday, Meyer picked the Gators to win, saying they’ve basically had two weeks to prepare for Auburn (via 247Sports):

“We gave Florida a hard time for playing Towson, but don’t devalue that (compared to) a bye week,” said Meyer, a former Gators coach in his own right. “I’m telling you right now, there’s no chance that Dan Mullen and that staff, they were working for two weeks on this game. And not only working two weeks, but I bet they didn’t even watch film on Towson. This is all about Auburn. Giving a team two weeks, this is better than a bye week because a bye week you have to give players off. They worked right through it. They played the game. I like the Gators in a very-close game. Home-field advantage is going to be huge there. I love Bo Nix, but I just think the Florida defense and environment will keep it close. Offensively, they’ll do enough to win by a slight margin at the end.”

It’ll be an intense atmosphere in The Swamp on Saturday. Will the Gators defend their home turf?

Find out if Meyer’s prediction comes true at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time on CBS.
