USA Today re-ranks all 128 teams in college football after Week 2
After every week, USA Today re-ranks every team in college football, 1-128.
USA Today’s Paul Myerberg doesn’t think Alabama is the second best team in college football, differing from the Coaches Poll and the AP Poll. Conversely, Myerberg ranks Ole Miss in the top 10 at No. 7. What a matchup Saturday’s game should be between the Crimson Tide and the Rebels.
Myerberg also ranks only four other teams in the top 25, No. 13 Georgia, No. 17. Texas A&M, No. 20 Missouri and No. 21 LSU. Despite being 2-0, Auburn fell out of his top 25 this past week with its performance against Jacksonville State, as did Tennessee after its loss against Oklahoma.
Here isĀ USA Today’s Top 25 after two weeks:

Are second week rankings any more accurate than preseason rankings? They were wrong then, they are wrong now. Wanna see how everything shakes out? Watch the teams play all season.
Gives us something to argue about. Besides, football fans need a constant fix during the week between games, and SDS keeps it rolling.
I do feel a bit like a junkie at times
Wow we’re ranked behind that team that could barely beat an FCS team? They weren’t even the better team on the field and only won b/c a BLATANT holding call wasn’t made on their 1st TD. They outright got beaten up and looked worse than their FCS foe.
45. Thats generous I guess. Considering a high school team not only beat us but exposed just how badly JWills loss hurt our run game and hospitalized several starters in the process. And has anyone else noticed the lack of participation on the boards this week by hog fans? Since Coach Bulimia popped off his reckless mouth and embarresed the team, the state, and the entire SEC we are almost afraid to say anything.
Now that’s a good post.
Let’s see, UT lost in 2 OTs to a team they were clearly better than (they had at least a half-dozen chances to win it and blew every one) and now that team is ranked #9 and formerly #23 UT is now #31? Wow, who knew that team was actually 22 places better than UT? You can’t make this stuff up…
When they figure up the rankings? I’m pretty sure they just figured in W or L and which conference the W or L figured into. Doubt it seriously if “clearly better than” and “blowing half dozen chances” were figured into the rankings. And I doubt they will be in the future. Just sayin!
TCU does not belong in the top 20.
Please.
well UGA is there.. they have just as much right as your team does. ;)
I really don’t see how Ga can stay ranked if the coaching staff can’t get off their ass and coach up a QB. The last departed QB for 4 years coached up the players also. I don’t hear of any team leaders doing that now. The team QB’s appear to be totally lost, while the Head Coach is probably in prayer meetings. Is the Lord thinking, ‘don’t ask me, just go do your job’.
Idiot alert!!
Gators are ranked too high.
Temple, hmmmmm
guess you should change your team allegiance though.. 64 is not too high.. it’s only 2 games in as well.. things take time..
I’m aware things take time. Not sure if they are that good. I hope they are.
I know that the rest of the SEC doesn’t care, but I can’t get over kansas being ranked 127 out of 128.
Losing that rivalry game was terrible for the sport, and I would love to play them again. However, it is just pathetic that playing kU would be waayyy more embarrassing than playing SEMO in the opener was.
