When Urban Meyer announced his retirement from Ohio State earlier this week, he wouldn’t definitively say if he was completely finished coaching.

Many believe Meyer will be gone from football only briefly, and it’s clear Vegas aligns with that thinking.

On Thursday, online sportsbook BetDSI released odds on whether Meyer will be an NFL or college head coach before Sept. 1, 2020. The odds, which you can view below, skew fairly heavily toward Meyer returning by that time.

  • Yes -300
  • No +240

It wouldn’t be the first time Meyer rejoined the coaching ranks after just one year away from the profession. He left Florida following the 2010 season only to become the Buckeyes next head man within a year.

Meyer cited health reasons as the primary cause for his retirement from both schools. The 54-year-old has publicly spoken this year about a brain cyst that has caused him chronic headaches, and he has appeared pained on the sidelines during games.

An investigation into how he handled accusations of domestic violence levied against a former staffer didn’t help matters for Meyer this season. It’s unclear how big of a role that played in his retirement, but what’s quite apparent is that Vegas believes this isn’t truly the end for Meyer.
