What was Brian Kelly thinking during Saturday night’s game at Temple?

Known for his well-documented temper tantrums, Notre Dame’s head coach grabbed assistant coach David Grimes by the collar and shoved him during a heated exchange on the sideline.

Kelly half-heartedly apologized for the incident, claiming it was done to prevent a sideline infraction by the Irish.

“David was going to get us a 15-yard penalty,” Kelly said after the game. “I have to control the sideline. I wasn’t going to let that happen. He got a little too close and I backed him up out of the way to make sure we didn’t get a 15-yard penalty.”
