This year, the college football world rallied behind Purdue superfan Tyler Trent, who inspired many across the nation — not just in West Lafayette.

Though Trent sadly passed away recently at the age of 20 after a long battle with cancer, his memory lives on. And it’s clear he had an impact on Clemson coach Dabo Swinney.

During Swinney’s speech at the White House on Monday night, he quoted Trent, using his message as one that should inspire everyone on a daily basis:

That’s a powerful message, and it’s one that has stuck with Swinney in the time since Trent’s death.

The 2018 Boilermakers lived in a way that made Trent proud, and now his words are being spoken at the White House — a great legacy to leave behind.
