WATCH: Mascot on mascot violence as Aubie hilariously trolls new Landshark mascot
In case you missed the news Friday, Ole Miss has officially adopted the Landshark as the school’s mascot. Meaning the school has decided to move away from the Black Bear mascot.
The Landshark name became a popular nickname for the program’s defense and the “fins up” celebration made famous under former head coach Hugh Freeze. The name would have made more sense if the Rebels still played defense like they did back in 2014 — when Ole Miss led the nation in scoring defense.
These days, not so much.
After giving up 66 points to Alabama last week, the Rebels allowed Auburn to score touchdowns on the first five possessions of the game. After yet another disappointing performance, the name was just begging to be mocked.
Right on cue, Aubie the Tiger has delivered. With the help of the Auburn band, check out this amazing moment captured by Tyler Greever of WJTV in Mississippi:
So the landshark did make an appearance at Auburn today. Or maybe Left Shark, possibly Right Shark. Anyway, Aubie is wearing the costume. pic.twitter.com/6pZ8MckOFD
