WATCH: Secret weapon? Colorado player runs off sideline to make tackle on punt return
Arizona State was forced to try to return a punt when Colorado appeared to use an extra defender who scampered on the field at the last second to make the tackle.
Nkeal Harry made the return for the Sun Devils, but was stopped in his tracks when Deion Smith leveled him from off of the sideline. It was unclear if Smith was part of the punt team, and ran, or was blocked several yards out of bounds, or if the Buffaloes briefly used 12 players to stop the return.
There’s no doubt this play will be reviewed by both teams, and likely the Pac-12 conference officiating department.
Colorado pulled ahead late in the third quarter, 28-21.
Pretty sure the CU Buffs player who makes the tackle comes from the sideline pic.twitter.com/C3CoslhOFK
