It was a banner week for offenses (and a pretty good week overall) as SEC teams feasted on cupcakes and knocked off a couple of ranked teams in season openers.

Six out of the conference’s 14 teams scored at least 40 points, led by a 76-point, 662-yard offensive deluge from Ole Miss. Vanderbilt took the conference’s only Week 1 loss. Texas A&M scored a blow against 15th-ranked Arizona State out of the Pac-12, damaging the argument made by some pundits that the league out West was overtaking the SEC.
