Week 9 came and went with a few more questions answered and a few more questions raised, particularly in Athens, where we’re still trying to figure out what’s going on with Georgia.

Stephen Garcia stares down the four most pressing issues surrounding SEC quarterbacks as we get ready for Week 10:

Question: Nick Chubb’s injury changed everything for Georgia, but were you surprised Mark Richt benched Greyson Lambert and threw Faton Bauta into that situation against Florida?

Garcia: I was completely shocked. I understand that their offense has been stagnant over the last few games, but playing against one of your biggest rivals and one of the better defenses in the conference, I figured that he would stick with Lambert.

Even Brice Ramsey. Coach Richt decided to go with a guy that has yet to take a college snap, and it showed.

The season has turned into a disappointment, as they were hyped to be the favorites in the East. The Chubb injury was definitely a big blow, but he wasn’t their entire offense.

I thought Lambert would have started with a short leash, with Ramsey coming in if needed, but to give someone who hasn’t played a down before seemed to look like he threw in the towel.

I don’t believe he has. I think he was trying to get a spark. The spark turned into a major backfire.

Question: What does Richt do now, for the rest of the season?

Garcia: I don’t even know. I know his players love him and he is one of the best coaches in the history of the SEC, regardless of what outside people say about him. He needs to decide on a quarterback and stick with him.

The musical chair quarterbacking rarely works and it divides the locker room. I realize there’s only a handful of games remaining, but coach needs to pick his guy and stick with him.

Question: Jacob Coker vs. Brandon Harris. Eventually one of them will have to make a play or two Saturday. Who are you going with?

Garcia: I have been majorly impressed with Brandon Harris over the past several weeks. He has been accurate, smart with the ball and making great reads. Jacob Coker has also played very well this season, but Harris has played better over the past few games.

These guys both run similar offenses, although I think Lane Kiffin may be a little more pass happy and complex. I fully expect both teams to try and assert their will on the ground with Leonard Fournette for LSU and Derrick Henry for Alabama.

Both QBs have significant playing experience and are playing really good football. I can’t decide who I would start for my team, although I think I’d go with Harris.

Whichever team gets its run game going will have a giant advantage either way.

Question: Kyler Murray isn’t Johnny Manziel, but he had some Manziel-like moments last week. What is his ceiling?

Garcia: Murray played very well against South Carolina. He may have been the spark that the A&M offense needed, as Kyle Allen had struggled over the last few games. Murray threw for 200-plus yards and ran for 150-plus. He is one of the smallest quarterbacks in the country, and I wonder how many hits he will take as much as he runs the ball.

That being said, I didn’t see him take a hard hit at all this weekend. He knows when to get down or out of bounds, and that will help him avoid injuries significantly.

I don’t think he has quite the arm talent as Manziel, but he can spin it, and he may be a little faster/shiftier. That is a change of pace from Allen, as he is more of a pocket passer with a NFL arm.

It will be interesting to see how Coach Sumlin decides to move forward with these two young quarterbacks. I believe Murray earned another shot at starting, or at least increasing his playing time if he doesn’t.
