Every week throughout the season, we’ll provide some video highlights of the SEC’s top commits.

SEC COMMITS

Ty Chandler, RB, 4-star Tennessee commit (Nashville, Tenn.)

An undisclosed injury prevented Tennessee running back Jalen Hurd from traveling to Texas A&M last Saturday, giving some Volunteers fans understandable anxiety about the position.

Chandler is here to ease those fears.

He rushed for 341 yards and 4 touchdowns on just 22 carries last Friday night, lifting Montgomery Bell Academy to a 31-24 win against defending state champion Brentwood Academy.

At 5-foot-11, 195 pounds, Chandler isn’t exactly a power back, but the biggest highlight of his night was a crushing stiff arm he delivered on this 72-yard touchdown run.

But the No. 6 running back in this year’s class pairs that strength and explosion with breakaway speed. He scored from 61 yards out on the second play from scrimmage and went completely untouched on an 82-yard touchdown later in the first half.

Chandler, ranked No. 107 overall and No. 6 in the state of Tennessee, even had an 85-yard touchdown called back for holding. But on plays that have stood, the prolific running back has more than 6,000 career rushing yards.

Dylan Moses, OLB, 5-star Alabama commit (Bradenton, Fla.)

The LSU-Florida game wasn’t the only contest indefinitely postponed because of Hurricane Matthew. And that wasn’t the only blow the Tigers suffered this week.

Moses, ranked as the fourth-best player in the nation, spurned his hometown school when he committed to Alabama on Oct. 2. His first high school game as an Alabama commit, IMG Academy’s tilt with Southern Lab (La.) scheduled for last Friday night, was canceled due to the severe weather expected in Florida.

The long-time LSU commit reopened his recruitment last August and has finally settled on the Crimson Tide after both schools made offers before he even started high school. Moses had already left Baton Rouge in a way, transferring from University High to IMG for his senior season.

One of the biggest recruiting prizes in the 2017 class and possibly ever, Moses is No. 1 nationally at his position and the top prospect in talent-rich Florida. The 6-foot-2, 235-pound linebacker is averaging 13 tackles per game as a senior, and his commitment gives Alabama three of the top five overall players in this year’s class.

D.D. Bowie, WR, 4-star Ole Miss commit (Morton, Miss.)

Maybe recruiting services should start ranking Bowie as an athlete.

Morton High School is 5-1 since its star receiver switched to quarterback, and he turned out another solid performance as the Panthers topped St. Andrew’s 42-10 last Friday night. The No. 2 player in Mississippi piled up 268 total yards and scored 5 touchdowns (3 passing, 2 rushing).

The 12th-ranked receiver in the country will probably remain at his natural position with Ole Miss. But Bowie, the No. 79 player in this year’s class, has proven he’s athletic enough to serve in a number of roles.

Standing at 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, Bowie has the size to match his athleticism. He caught 21 balls for 704 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior and should fit nicely in the Rebels’ pass-happy offense.
