Coaching carousel silly season is here with South Carolina being the first Power 5 vacancy of the 2020 season. We’ve got our first conflicting reports regarding a candidate for the Gamecocks job.

The Athletic reported that Louisville coach Scott Satterfield has an interview scheduled with South Carolina. Shortly after that was reported, Pat Forde of Yahoo shared, citing his sources, that, “Satterfield is not interested and happy at Louisville.”

Satterfield, 47, is in his second season at Louisville after previously coaching at App State, his alma mater. Satterfield is 62-35 as a head coach. Satterfield was 51-24 at App State, guiding the program to 3 straight conference championships (2016-18). At Louisville, he went 8-5 in Year 1, but the Cardinals are just 3-6 this season (Year 2).

As with most coaching searches, various names have been linked to the South Carolina job. Hugh Freeze was initially reported as the program’s top target. Former Gamecock Melvin Ingram weighed in that Shane Beamer was his pick. Reports that Army’s Jeff Monken had emerged as a candidate were not well-received by the fanbase.
