Dabo Swinney reacts to news of Will Muschamp being fired; Clemson OC, DC respond to questions about Carolina job
The South Carolina Gamecocks parted ways with coach Will Muschamp on Sunday night.
The Gamecocks’ in-state rival, Clemson, has been one of the best teams in the country the past few years, while South Carolina has failed to gain much positive momentum.
On Monday night, during his weekly radio show, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said his heart goes out to the Muschamp family:
Dabo Swinney says on his radio show he doesn't have much of a personal relationship with Will Muschamp but feels for the former USC coach. "These are lives. I'm not the person cheering that someone lost their job. … He's got kids, he's got a wife."

South Carolina has been linked to a number of potential replacements for Muschamp, but Clemson DC Brent Venables and OC Tony Elliott haven’t been among them. Still, they were asked about the opening on Monday and both said they were focused on this week’s Florida State matchup:
Clemson DC Brent Venables on the USC opening: "Whether or not at some point you want to be a head coach in the future, right now your focus is on Florida State."

Clemson OC Tony Elliott says he's not focused on USC coaching vacacy at this time. "I'm focused on these players and this staff right now. They've been too good for me to focus on other jobs."

For now, the Gamecocks will continue to search for a new coach. We’ll see if the search takes them to their in-state rival’s coordinators.
