GG Jackson unveiled his commitment Saturday evening, electing to stay home and play for South Carolina. Originally committed to North Carolina, Jackson reopened his recruitment last week.

That move set off a firestorm of hope and anxiety within the Gamecock faithful. In the end, Jackson will suit up for the Gamecocks, and he is also reclassifying to the 2022 recruiting class and will play for South Carolina this fall.

Shortly after the news, South Carolina QB Spencer Rattler reacted to the big commitment on Twitter. Rattler seems thrilled to have another star coming to campus.

The 6-foot-9 Jackson is a 5-star prospect and was the No. 2 player nationally for the class of 2023 by the 247 Sports Composite Rankings before reclassifying to 2022. Getting Jackson – who played for Columbia’s Ridge View High School – is a huge win for new head basketball coach Lamont Paris.
