South Carolina desperately needed to add some depth to the team’s quarterback and receiver rooms heading into the first spring camp of the Shane Beamer era and the Gamecocks managed to do just that by landing a pair of transfers from the FCS ranks.

On Tuesday, Saint Francis quarterback Jason Brown and Saint Francis receiver EJ Jenkins announced they are headed to South Carolina. Each of them have two seasons of eligibility remaining starting next season in Columbia.

Brown is coming off a season in which he led the Northeast Conference in passing yards (3,084) and passing touchdowns (28) during the 2019 season while Jenkins registered 39 catches for 779 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Brown’s passing yards and touchdown figures represent single-season records for the Saint Francis program while Jenkins touchdown reception also marks a single-season record for Saint Francis.

If you were unaware, FCS football did not have a fall season in 2020, so these two did not have an opportunity to connect last fall.

“GLORY TO GOD!! Thank you to all the South Carolina coaches!! Blessed! I’m COMMITTED to The University of South Carolina!! See you soon Columbia!” Brown posted on Twitter.

“Thank you all the coaches that reached out during this process. I’m truly blessed to announce that I am committed to the University of South Carolina,” Jenkins posted on Twitter.

It’s rare for a program to land two commitments back-to-back, it’s even rarer for those two pledges to come from all-conference performers.

To get an idea of what South Carolina is getting in each of these players, here are some of the highlights from their time at Saint Francis.
