John Lynch sends strong message about Deebo Samuel's status with 49ers
John Lynch and the San Francisco 49ers have found themselves in plenty of trade rumors this offseason, many involving star WR Deebo Samuel.
The former South Carolina star has requested a trade and seems to be unhappy with his role as a hybrid wide receiver/running back.
But, ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft in late April, Samuel wasn’t traded, and he’s still a member of the 49ers. Speaking on Wednesday night, Lynch said he has no plans to trade the star receiver:
49ers’ GM John Lynch, when asked at last night’s “Dwight Clark Legacy Series” event, about Deebo Samuel’s status with the team: “We haven't traded him, and I'd be a fool to trade him, so yes, Deebo will be part of the 49ers this season.”

In 2021, Samuel recorded 77 catches for 1,405 yards and 6 touchdowns. He also ran the ball 59 times for 365 yards and 8 scores. Every single number in the previous sentence was a career-high for Samuel.
