Kelvin Hunter, a 4-star safety out of Florence, South Carolina (West Florence), has announced a commitment to play in the SEC.

Hunter continued a busy stretch for the Gamecocks with a commitment Shane Beamer’s program. The Gamecocks also landed a pledge from Mike Williams out of the DMV area, a recruiting hotbed for the Gamecocks. Hunter was recruited to South Carolina by Torrian Gray. He chose South Carolina over Virginia Tech, Michigan, Auburn and Appalachian State.

Hunter is ranked the No. 16 safety in the 2024 class, the No. 3 player in the Palmetto State and the No. 202 player in the 2024 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s played multiple positions with his high school team, and also runs track, and finished his junior season with 103 tackles, 19 tackles for a loss, one interception and 6 blocked punts, according to The State.

South Carolina has now landed the top 4 players in the state in the 2024 class and 5 of the top 7, including 4-star tackles Kam Pringle and Josiah Thompson, 4-star receiver Mazeo Bennett and 3-star tackle Blake Franks.

The Gamecocks have 9 commitments, and are ranked No. 7 in the country for the 2024 class.
