The 6-foot-3, 242-pounder from Florence, South Carolina, stayed in his home state and everyone surrounding the Gamecocks program was grateful for that last fall. Sellers capped his breakout regular season in fitting fashion against in-state rival Clemson on Nov. 30, scoring the winning touchdown on a 20-yard run with 1:08 left to lift South Carolina to a 17-14 road victory.
The win finished off a 9-3 regular season that surpassed expectations in Columbia.
Sellers’ stats in 2024 were not the typical numbers of a freshman quarterback who’s thrown into the fire in the SEC. Sellers threw for 2,534 yards with 18 touchdown passes and just 7 interceptions. But that was only half of his statistical impact, as Sellers did major damage on the ground, as Clemson could attest. He ran for a whopping 674 yards and 7 touchdowns, including that dramatic TD run at Death Valley.
Sellers’ longest run of the season was 75 yards, and he averaged 4.1 yards per carry in 2024. His ability to burn defenses with his legs as well as his arm made life difficult for defenses all season, and Sellers is only just beginning his career in Columbia.
