Reports: South Carolina decides on starting QB for Georgia game
Mike Bobo is reportedly making a quarterback change in his second game as South Carolina’s interim head coach. Mike Uva of WACH FOX 57 and GamecockCentral of Rivals are each reporting, per their sources, that true freshman Luke Doty will get the start against No. 9 Georgia.
It will be the first start of Doty’s career. Graduate transfer Collin Hill has started the 8 other Gamecocks games in the 2020 season. In last week’s 17-10 loss to Missouri, Doty played the second half in relief of Hill.
Doty was 14-of-23 passing for 130 yards and an interception against the Tigers. He also logged 11 carries for 59 rushing yards. Doty has appeared in six total games this season, but recorded just one other pass attempt and five rushes in those five other games. He will be facing a Georgia passing defense ranked No. 10 in the SEC, allowing 273.3 yards per game through the air. The Dawgs are No. 4 in the conference when it comes to snagging picks with 7 interceptions through 7 games.
Out of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Doty was rated 4-stars, the No. 2 Palmetto State product, No. 4 dual-threat quarterback and No. 86 prospect overall nationally on the 247Sports Composite.
Saturday’s game is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network. Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs come into Columbia looking for revenge last year’s upset win by South Carolina between the hedges in Athens.
Just don’t get hurt in this blow out.
UGARMYRet and cola_cock make snotty comments about Vandy and Sarah Fuller suiting up for the game today. Thanks for getting comments closed on that article. Not. This from a Georgia fan who has a coach being questioned about QB decisions and a USCe fan who is going into the game without even having a coach. Look, this girl’s an athlete. An SEC Champion in soccer. Play LB? Maybe not. But respect her for being willing to help the team.
Mason says they are carrying two other kickers on the roster today. You really think this is about this young lady helping out the Vanderbilt football team?
He’s trying to get those woke virtue signaling points.
If she beat the others in a competition then ok – if she was just put in to “make history” then no – it was nothing but a stunt!
Oh boo hoo there are people who aren’t afraid to say the truth. I’m sick of this nonsense that wahmens can’t be criticized but soy white knights feel the need to rush to so called empowered wahmens.
What the heck happened to Hillinsky?
