South Carolina is 3-3 overall and winless in 3 SEC games this season, but 1st-year Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer has been pleased with what he has seen.

There is certainly room for improvement when it comes to execution on the field. But as far as building the culture that he wants within the program, Beamer said things are right on track.

“If we were going out there every week not playing with effort, if I was walking into our facility dreading seeing our players, I’d be concerned,” Beamer said Wednesday during the weekly SEC coaches teleconference. “That’s not what’s going on. … Our players are playing with great effort. It hasn’t been a challenge from a culture standpoint. … They know what’s taking place in this building, and it’s pretty special. The results on the field are going to come.”

Beamer and the Gamecocks will be looking to get their first SEC win on Saturday when they play host to Vanderbilt.
