Shane Beamer met with reporters on Thursday morning ahead of the Gamecocks beginning spring practice.

One of the topics covered was the suspension of 3 players — Monteque Rhames II, Anthony Rose and Cameron Upshaw — that was announced earlier this year.

Beamer confirmed that all 3 players are still suspended.

“Still not a part of our team,” Beamer said. “Still suspended. A lot of those decision are made … that’s a university issue as well.

“Don’t anticipate them being back with us at any point in the near future.”

Rhames was arrested in early February for carrying weapons on school property and obstructing justice. The reasons for Rose and Upshaw’s suspensions have not been disclosed. All 3 players were suspended on the same day.

Rhames and Upshaw are both true freshmen and enrolled with the program back in January. Rhames was a 4-star EDGE prospect from Manning, South Carolina. Upshaw was a 3-star safety from Perry, Fla. Rose is a redshirt freshman from Miami, Fla.

There is no timetable for their return to the program.
