South Carolina adds 3rd commitment of the day from off-the-radar 8-man WR
South Carolina picked up its third commitment of the day, but this one was less known than the others, and for many people outside of the eight-man football landscape in the Palmetto State.
Kylic Horton, who plays for the 8-man Clarendon Hall football program, verbally committed to Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks on Saturday. He was the third USC commit for the Class of 2022 on Saturday, alongside Kansas transfer Karon Prunty and Cason Henry.
The 6-foot-4 Horton, a Summerton, South Carolina native, is being recruited as a receiver and attended a Gamecocks camp earlier this month. He ran a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash and picked up an offer from Gamecocks receiving coach Justin Stepp, per the Charlotte Observer. He is not rated by the 247Sports Composite, but 247Sports pegs him at the No. 20 player in the state for the class of 2022. He has a reported five offers.
After the Gamecocks’ offer, Horton picked up offers from Virginia Tech and Coastal Carolina and took visits to all three places but went ahead and made his commitment to South Carolina. The other offers are Gardner-Webb and Benedict College.
