South Carolina landed another addition out of the transfer portal on Tuesday evening.
Former Utah State running back Rahsul Faison has committed to the program, according to a report from On3. Faison was listed as the No. 4 player at the position in the portal, per 247Sports’ transfer rankings, marking a big get for Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound back chose South Carolina over multiple other teams, including Florida State, who some predicted he would land with. Alabama, UNC, UCLA, and UCF were also among the programs in contention.
Faison finished out the 2024 season with 1,109 yards on 198 carries with 8 touchdowns. He also displays the versatility of a running back who can be heavily relied upon in the backfield, reeling in 22 receptions for 99 yards. And if there is anything outside of all of that Beamer and Co. should be excited about, it is the level of reliability and consistency Faison has shown.
He crossed the century mark 5 times this season. His best game was in a 55-10 win over the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors back in November when he rushed for 191 yards and 2 scores on 20 carries.
Faison began his career at Lackawanna Community College in 2020 before transferring to Marshall in 202. He played a year of JUCO ball at Snow College in 2022 before joining Utah State prior to the 2023 season. He’ll have a chance to compete for the starting job at South Carolina in 2025 with Rocket Sanders entering the 2025 NFL Draft.
With the SEC presenting one of the biggest, if not the biggest, stage in college football, Faison will have the chance to prove he can be just as productive against some of the most fearsome teams in college football.
