South Carolina has picked up a statement win in January that will stand out on its March resume. The unranked Gamecocks knocked off No. 6 Kentucky 79-62 on Tuesday night in Columbia. It is the largest win over an AP top-10 team in program history.

It was a tight game into the second half, with UK trailing by just 2 points (40-38) at the 15:02 mark. From there, the Gamecocks took over, going on a 26-8 run to open up a 20-point advantage of 66-46 with 6:12 remaining in the game. Lamont Paris’ squad wasn’t too big for the moment and kept the Wildcats from ever cutting the deficit below 14 points down the stretch.
