During a press conference on Thursday morning, South Carolina governor Nikki Haley addressed the media about the plans to handle Hurricane Matthew, which is expected to hit the South Carolina coast this weekend.

Haley also addressed the status of Saturday’s Georgia-South Carolina game, which she said yesterday would not have any state support available for things like security and traffic control.

Haley said Thursday the state would not make any decisions about the game, but is confident things will be handled responsibly:

“I’m going to leave that up to the school. They know what they’re required to have, they know what their issues are,” Haley said. “They’re very conscious of safety and very conscious of making sure things move forward only if they know they can handle it. They’re looking to see if they can do it with the assets they have in place. They may also borrow from Richland County to supplement what they normally get from the state.”

A final decision on the game is expected to be made Thursday afternoon. As of now, the game is still scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Eastern time.
