South Carolina OC Mike Bobo upsets Gamecocks fans with social media post calling Dabo Swinney 'Tiger King'
Seemingly everybody is talking about Netflix’s “Tiger King” with the coronavirus pandemic keeping people at home (and watching streaming entertainment). “Tiger King” puns and memes are an easy way to get likes and shares on social media. South Carolina offensive coordinator Mike Bobo, however, made a social media mistake calling Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney the “real Tiger King.”
Bobo quote-tweeted USA TODAY columnist Dan Wolken’s tweet linking to an article about Swinney’s comments on the 2020 college football season.
.@GamecockFB The real Tiger King has spoken… Stay SAFE! #SPURSUP#Wormturned 🐛🐛 https://t.co/lhZJ2vQBE0 pic.twitter.com/E8Vbncpncg

Bobo has only been on Will Muschamp’s coaching staff for a few months, but this seems like a ‘c’mon man’ type of move from a former college football player and long-time coach.
The tweet did not go over well with many Gamecocks fans. The responses ranged from calling it a firable offense to asking Bobo to delete it to asking for an explanation.

This should be a firable offense

At least one fan interpreted Bobo’s tweet as a zinger:

Another fan warned Bobo that his attempt at humor may be misunderstood:
Oh Lawd, Coach. RIP your comments. Gamecock fans have zero sense of humor when it comes to that goofy asshat in the upstate.

Bobo should have plenty of time to work on his tweets to South Carolina fans.
