After polishing off No. 4 seeded UCLA 59-43 on Saturday, the South Carolina women’s basketball team is advancing to the Elite Eight for the third consecutive time.

From the beginning, the Bruins were unable to keep pace with the No. 1 seeded Gamecocks. The Bruins never held a lead, while 3 South Carolina players scored double digits throughout the contest. UCLA limited South Carolina to a season-low 25 points in the first half but was down by 20 points headed into the final act.

It’s the second time South Carolina and UCLA have met on the court this season, but with similar outcomes. The Bruins are the only team to lose to the Gamecocks by a single-digit margin.

Before eventually falling to the Gamecocks 73-64, the Bruins even led at halftime during the regular season game. But, in the game on Saturday, that wasn’t the case as UCLA fell behind early.

Despite shooting their fourth-worst field goal percentage of the season at 38.1%, multiple Gamecocks racked up double-digit points on Saturday. Guard Brea Beal, Kamilla Cardoso, and Bree Hall all walked away from the court with 10 points on the Bruins.

The Gamecocks are 3 games away from a perfect season as they advance to the Elite Eight. South Carolina will face the No. 2 seeded Maryland Terrapins on March 27.
