Beamer was asked what he thought an overarching problem with this team was from the season. He told reporters that it was the offensive line’s inability to protect Spencer Rattler:
Shane Beamer asked if there was an overarching problem during this season:
“When you look at statatics nationally, we’re one of the worst teams in the country at protecting the quarterback. And that’s not all on the offensive line.”

Despite this and missing out on a bowl game with a 5-7 record, beamer thinks the state of the program is in a good place right now, as good as it’s ever been:

“I thought a lot about going for it. I wanted it to be a little less than seven [yards].” – Beamer on the last punt decision
“When you’re 2-of-13 on third downs, it doesn’t give you a ton of confidence going for it on fourth down either.”
