South Carolina is down one defender following the dismissal of DB Jamel Cook, who was charged with domestic violence on Friday.

“That’s all I’m going to say about that,” coach Will Muschamp said on his Sunday night media teleconference, according to Josh Kendall.

Cook was reportedly arrested for second degree domestic violence charges, according to Richland County online records, The Big Spur reported. He is currently out of jail on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond with a court order not to return to the incident location or contact the victim.

Cook was in his second year with the South Carolina program after he sat out the 2018 season following a transfer from Southern Cal. He played in one game this season and had one tackle against Charleston Southern.

Cook played both cornerback and safety, but did not made the two-deep at any point this season on defense.

Cook is a cousin of former Florida State star Dalvin Cook. The Miami native redshirted at Southern Cal after he suffered an offseason foot injury.
