Will Muschamp is known for his relentless and outstanding recruiting ability.

He’s acquired a penchant for relating to recruits and their families. Couple that with his skill of developing players for the next level (specifically on the defensive side of the ball), and it’s no surprise to see himself considered one of the best in the country in this capacity.

As such, he’s put an emphasis into rebuilding the South Carolina program. Currently, USC sits with the No. 7 class in the SEC — ahead of teams such as Ole Miss, Florida, and Arkansas.

Muschamp’s first recruiting class are now playing as true freshmen. Starting QB Jake Bentley looks like a future all-pro. The team’s top-two rushers (A.J. Turner, Rico Dowdle) are true freshmen. The team’s third-leading receiver — and arguably the most dynamic one (Bryan Edwards) — is also a first-year player.

There’s a real buzz around this program. Muschamp’s done a great job of integrating young players into the mix. Recruits can see how many true freshmen USC has chosen to use. The biggest fish for South Carolina is 2018 5-star DL Xavier Thomas. Hailing from Florence, the in-state prospect has visited the campus three weeks in a row.

On his weekly radio show, Muschamp offered this sentiment:

One may call him cocky, but if Muschamp can continue to recruit at a high level — whilst also developing the young talent — anything can happen.
