Changes are coming to the South Carolina defense as Will Muschamp revealed as much at the Columbia Touchdown Club during a visit on Thursday.

In a move that has been somewhat expected this preseason, Muschamp said Ernest Jones would start at middle linebacker, and that would free up T.J. Brunson to move to the weakside spot, according to reports from The State, and The Athletic.

Another change on defense is that true freshman Jammie Robinson would start at nickel after he has received strong reviews during the preseason.

In other comments, Muschamp praised how QB Dakereon Joyner has handled losing the backup quarterback competition, and said he would contribute at other positions.

At wide receiver, Muschamp said the top three receivers are Bryan Edwards, Shi Smith and Josh Vann, while the tight end position will include Kyle Markway, KeShawn Toney, Chandler Ferrell, and Evan Hinson, who is returning from surgery.
