Brent Key has perfect reaction to Georgia Tech’s upset of Florida State
Brent Key’s Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets pulled off an impressive upset over the 10th-ranked Florida State Seminoles in Dublin to open up the 2024 season.
The Yellow Jackets looked like the more physical team all day and the offensive line had no problem creating running lanes. The Jackets finished with 190 rushing yards, and running back Jamal Haynes scored 2 touchdowns. Quarterback Haynes King also added 54 yards of his own on the ground.
After the game, Key was asked how impressed he was with his offensive line controlling the line of scrimmage.
“Are you kidding me? Run the baaaaaaall,” Key stated emphatically.

King only attempted 16 passes for 146 yards, but the Jackets were still able to put 24 points on the board thanks to the strong ground game.
On both sides, Georgia Tech controlled the line of scrimmage. FSU averaged just 5 yards a play and only 3.2 yards per run. The Yellow Jackets didn’t give up a sack and only had 3 plays that failed to get back to the line of scrimmage.
A former national champion offensive line coach at Alabama, Key getting his team to play smashmouth football and go toe-to-toe with a double-digit favorite should come as no surprise.
It’s hard to imagine a better start to the season than getting a win over a top-10 team. Coming into this game, the Jackets had lost 15 straight against top-10 teams. Now, the team will return to the States and prepare to face Georgia State in Atlanta next Saturday.
